Abstract

The ancient Zamfara Kingdom was rich in core traditional values, domestic craft production, cultural practices and festivals. However, the several attacks on the polity inflicted a severe setback on its political stability. The study focuses on Reflections of the State, Economy and Society of Zamfara prior to the Establishment of the Sokoto Caliphate. The study also examines the history of the kingdom, the culture, the tradition and the economic activities of the people in the area, the growth, expansion, fall of the Kingdom and the triumph of the Sokoto Caliphate. The study adopted a substantial use of quantitative data through the use of primary and secondary sources.
