An Archaeological Investigation of Kufen Karfi Abandoned Settlement Site in Malumfashi Katsina State, Nigeria

Abstract

This article reports an archaeological investigation of Kufen Karfi abandoned settlement in Malumfashi area of Katsina State. The exercise which took place in the month of May,2016 was conducted by group C of the Field School of Department of Archaeology, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. This preliminary investigation which involved archaeological survey, excavation and oral tradition collection and documentation, it revealed proven evidence of sedentary way of life by the people and cluster of dye pits in association with human burial, hence compelling the need for further more detailed study for a better understanding of the
nature, evolution and development of the dying ndustry in the area.
