Role of Community Organizations in Supporting Adult and Non- Formal Education in Nigeria

Abstract

The paper discusses the role of community organizations in supporting adult and nonformal
education in Nigeria. It asseses the impacts of community organization and the
effort made by a community organization in supporting adult and non-formal education
in Nigeria. The paper also provides a clarification of community organization, adult
education and non-formal education. It also discusses adult and non-formal education
programmes, roles of community organizations and the challenges faced by a
community organization. It was recommended that adequate funding should be
allocated to community organizations, and there is a need to provide adequate
organizational support and attitudinal change of people in political authority for the
development of a new course to improve the living condition of people.
