Abstract

The Nigerian textile industries faced many challenges that affected the local textile
production. The main objective of this paper was to assess the Nigerian Textile
Industries revival in Kaduna. The specific objectives evaluated the impact of
intervention funds and restriction policy on the revival of the Nigerian Textile Industry
in Kaduna. The study was conducted based on a descriptive survey design; it used
primary data from a structured questionnaire administered. The population of the study
was 101 employees of industries considered while the same was adopted as the sample
size because the number was not too large. Convenience sampling technique was used
for the survey while linear regression through the SPSS version of statistical packages
was used to analyze the data and tested the formulated hypotheses at a 5% level of
significance. The study shows that there is a significant impact between intervention
funds and the revival of textile industries in Kaduna, and concluded that the potential
of textile industries to contribute to long-run growth and development will therefore
depend not just on the attributes of the investor, but also the quality and effectiveness
of government policies and their implementation, as well as adequate funding. The
paper, therefore, recommends the provision of intervention funds by the government or
private sectors to the textile industries in Kaduna and Nigeria at large to revive the
collapsed textile industries in Nigeria and boost the production of textile materials that
will meet the demand of the Nigerian market.
