Boko Haram Insurgency and Porternally Displaced Persons (IDP) Implications on Good Governance In Nigeria

Abstract

This paper explains the effect of displacement on internal displaced persons with particular reference to those that were displaced by Boko Haram and its implications on good governance in Nigeria. Content analysis was adopted as a research method in this study. The agenda setting and human needs theories were employed as theoretical base of this work.The paper discovered the effect of displacement on internal displaced persons by Boko Haram in Nigeria which include shelter, security,hunger, disease and even government neglect. In order to ensure good governance, the paperrecommends the need to salvage the internal displaced persons from the challenges of displacement. Nigerian Government mustalso continue to fight corruption and ensure direct link between the management agencies and the internal displaced persons in Nigeria. There is also need for collaboration between the Nigerian Government and International agencies or organizations because the need to the address the challenges of internal displaced persons cannot be left in the hand of any individual or groups alone. Therefore, justice, equity and collaboration should be the watch words of the Leaders.
