Managerial Skills and Productivit y in an Organization: A Comparative Analysis of the Approaches of Lampard and Tuchel of Chelsea Football Club

Abstract

There is no human endeavour that does not require proper management for its proper functioning.  Organizations require good management to effectively function. Not all people can effectively manage and a good manager is expected to possess special skills different from others.  This study examines managerial skills and its impact on organization. Specifically, the study makes a comparative analysis of the managerial skills of two (2) coaches (Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel). The study used questionnaire to elicit data from respondents. The data were analysed and tested using SPSS (version 20). The result shows that managerial skill is a Sine-qua-non for high-quality management and organizational productivity. The study further found that the major distinction between the two managers is in their application of managerial skills; the former is more of an officious manager while the later was creative and classless. The study recommended that initiative, human relation and communication skill are focal area to be given attention by managers and management of organizations.
