Evaluation of the Security Challenges in Nigeria from 2008-2023

Abstract

This study is an evaluation of the Security challenges that bedeviled Nigeria between 2008 and 2023. It is aimed at assessing the likelihood of Nigeria surviving both politically and economically as a nation in the face of these daunting security challenges. It analysed some of the centrifugal forces struggling to tear her down with a view to ascertaining the capacities and possibility, and thus proffering a way forward. Anchored on relative-deprivation theory, the study provides histo-political analysis of the multiple non-state armed groups and goes further to argue that all those centrifugal forces operating in Nigeria today are results of the group's feelings of being treated unfairly compared to others in their group by the political leadership. The paper relied on secondary data in its analysis. The activities and potency of each group in destroying Nigeria were highlighted before conclusion and recommendations which sued for just and credible leadership moulded and adored with nationalist robe whose quest and hunger is to see and achieve a united and indivisible Nigeria with peaceful political environment.
