Abstract

The journal evaluated the implementation of UBE programme in primary and junior secondary schools in Kaduna South, Kaduna State between 2016 and 2020. Descriptive method was utilised using a sample of five schools randomly picked from both sections with10 teachers randomly selected in each school to answer the questionnaires and the head teacher or the representative of each wasinterviewed. The questionnaires returned were analysed in frequency and percentages and the interviews used to support the findings. The findings showed among others that instructional and infrastructural facilities, trained teachers and funds are insufficient to a high extent for effective implementation of UBE programme in Kaduna South L.G.A between 2016 and 2020. Thus, the study recommended that government should provide instructional materials, infrastructural facilities and head teachers of primary and junior secondary schools be properly trained in order to guide the conduct of other teachers who are not functional in the implementation of the UBE programme among others.
