Abstract

The proliferation of cultural differences at different levels and setting correlate to the potential hindrance to enterprise performance and development, yet in related literature, culture and subculture contribute to enterprise performance in the body of literature, with contradicting and conflicting findings in developed and developing countries. Extant studies bear, no significant empirical research effort as to the association of culture and small and medium enterprise, despite its conflicting and contradicting results on enterprise performance and developments. This divergence finding triggers some research rhetoric questions. It has been perceived to have a link with the proliferation of inconsistencies and conflicting results though not yet empirically supported. In light of the above, this study investigates the direct and moderating impact of cultural orientation on internationalized SMEs performance and development, using a well-developed measurement and structural models to explore this inherent literature gap. The study empirically employed primary and secondary data, hypotheses, extensive literature review, and adopted questionnaire, 121 sample size, stratified random sampling, Partial Least Square SEM analytical methods. The study revealed that Cultural Teamwork, Environmental focus, Perceived cultural norms, and Enterprise performance are positive and significantly related to enterprise performance while Perceived cultural value and Enterprise performance is negatively related to enterprise performance. And the researcher recommends that cultural orientation should be incorporated into the organization policies in both the private and public sectors in Nigeria.
