Abstract

This paper adopted secondary data to examine the effect of corruption on efficient and effective service delivery in Niger State public service. The paper argued that productive time, energy and enormous financial and material resources which could have been used for the implementation of meaningful economic and social development projects and programmes have been undermined because of corruption and corruption related cases. It is the findings of this paper that efficiency and effectiveness begets quality service and quality service begets quality standard of living of citizens and their contributions to societal transformation. This paper recommends the strengthening of all anti-corruption institutions in Nigeria and Niger State to eliminate or ensure a reduction of corruption in the state to give way for meaningful and sustainable political socio-economic growth and development.
