EVALUATION OF MANPOWER AND PHYSICAL FACILITIES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAM IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

Business education is one of the occupational areas that are richly provided by
vocational and technical education in Nigeria, it is a program of instruction that offers
various skills in management. accounting, marketing/distributive and Office Technology
and Management. The study evaluated the physical facilities and manpower in business
education program in Nigerian universities. Two objectives, with its corresponding
research questions and null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey design was
used for the study. The population of the study consists of563 respondents. Total
Population Sample was used in the study. Business Educators Questionnaire
(BUSEQUEST) was adapted as the instrument for data collection. The reliability
coefficient of the instrument was .70. The data collected was analysed using descriptive
statistics for all the research questions, while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to
test the null hypotheses at 5% level of significance. Statistical Package for Social
Sciences (SPSS) version 23 was used to analyze the data. The results revealed among
others thatdifference does not exist among the responses of Head of Sections (HOS),
lecturers and technologists on the manpower for its implementation andalso there is no
difference in their responses on the adequacy of facilities for its implementation. It was
therefore recommended that, universities offering business education program should
upheld and retain the manpower for its proper implementation. Also, the University
authorities should also ensure maintenance culture in order to maintain the existing
facilities and embark on capacity building in order to maintain the level of success
achieved.
