ROLE OF MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK (MTN) ON NIGERIA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Mobil Telecommunication Network are important players in the global economy, they are
important players in the development of society, and this is due to their economic clout.
However, there has been reservation about their operation in developing countries
because of their exploitative nature. Focusing on the negativity associated with their
operation will not provide a balanced view. This paper investigates the contribution of
MTN Nigeria to the development of Nigeria economic. Primary and secondary sources
of data were used. The data collected was analyzed using simple percentage and
frequency. The result shows that MTN Nigeria has to a great extent contributed to the
development of Nigeria economic through its various social investments in the country.
The study concludes that MTN Nigeria has contributed to the development of Nigeria
economic goals towards achieving the quality education goal by improving the
infrastructure in the country. The research recommended that the government should
encourage MTN to provide socio corporate responsibility especially in rural areas.
