COVID – 19 PANDEMIC AND TIDES OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICRELATIONS: AN ANALYSIS OF NIGERIA – CHINA RELATIONS

Abstract

The Covid-19 Pandemic in Nigeria like all parts of the world has affected all aspects of
governance in Nigeria, be it economic, social or political. The corona disease according
to World Health Organization is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome called
corona virus 2 (SARS-coV-2). It has really taken the world by surprise, even the most
developed and advanced nations are not spared. The Covid-19 index case in Nigeria
th was reported by National Centre for Disease Control on the 27 of February, 2020 in
Lagos where it spread to the other parts of the country rapidly thereby forcing the
government to a total lockdown which brought down the whole system of government to
its knees. School and businesses were closed, Road and air space was also shut down.
Everything came to a standstill though the government tried to relax the situation by
providing some palliatives for the masses but the most devastating effect of this corona is
the international relations countries share especially between Nigeria and china, which is
the focused of this study. The study tend to use qualitative analysis in evaluating the
findings by using the new'' new theory of international trade. The paper will discuss and
bring to bear how covid-19 affected the Nigeria-China relations. Its benefits and
consequences and the way forward.
