BEHAVIOURAL INTENTION TO USE ISLAMIC FINANCIAL SERVICES USING THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOUR

Behavioural intention is becoming an important area of concern among business researchers as
well as practitioners, at the same time there is an increasing trend of accepting Islamic financial
services. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between attitude and intention,
subjective norms and intention as well as perceived behavioural control and intention to use
Islamic financial services. Copies of 122 questionnaires were distributed to bank Customers in
Kano and were subsequently collected using convenience sampling. The data were then analysed
using partial least squares (PLS3) structural equation modelling (SEM). The results of this study
reveals that there is a significant relationship between attitude, subjective norm and perceived
behavioural control with behavioural intention to use Islamic financial services. The study
concluded that attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control are all important
variables of determining Islamic financial services. The study recommends that Islamic financial
service provider should understand customers’ attitude, use reference groups and highlight the
benefits Islamic financial services, for example, interest free financing.
