Abstract

Absence of organisational structure and poor management philosophy of firms have resulted to poor small businesses performance. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of structural resource management on the performance of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Benue State-Nigeria. Survey design was employed as data were collected via administered questionnaire to 320 respondents who were sample size for the study. The data collected were processed and subjected to validity and reliability tests. These include; descriptive statistics and correlational analysis tests. Regression was finally conducted to test the formulated hypotheses. The study found that intellectual property; organisational structure and management philosophy has positive and significant effect on performance of SMEs in Benue state. The study therefore recommends amongst others that relevant stakeholders should give maximum attention to organisational structures and management philosophy and make them priority. Also, attention be given to intellectual resources as well as ignoring it could lead to significant reduction in general performance of the SMEs.
