Abstract

Apathied, an Afrikanns term which means “separation” was used in South Africa to separate, segregate and create racial differentiation. The result was the social, economic and political alienation of black Africans. This paper argues textually the oppression of man by man resulting to the disillusionment of the psyche of the oppressed. Using Alienation, one of the theories of Marxism to critic Godimer's short story, the research exposes the effects of alienating black South Africans and calls for a concerted effort towards stimulating an environment that promotes equal human development of all races.
