Abstract

This study assess the efficiency and user-satisfaction of cataloguing module of library management system in federal university libraries in Nigeria, using experimental and survey design. Seventy participants were purposely selected for the study. Observation and questionnaire were used to collect data. Results for efficiency showed that experienced participants was 100 %, while the efficiency of inexperienced participants are 71.08, 53.95, 53.87 and 30.55% for SLAM, Alexandria, NewGenLib and Koha respectively. The results also revealed that many participants were satisfied with SLAM, Alexandria and NewGenLib cataloguing module. However, majority of the participants were not satisfied with Koha cataloguing module. The study concludes that SLAM, Alexandria and NewGenLib cataloguing modules are efficient but Koha cataloguing module is not efficient. The study recommends that SLAM, Alexandria, NewGenLib and Koha cataloguing interfaces should be improved upon.
